presence of esotericism Christian in Freemasonry
The 2010-2011 cycle of the "Seminar for the Study of Masonic and esoteric movements", to examine an academic point of view the links and subtle intellectual affinities linking the esoteric Christian initiation societies and modern and contemporary. Indeed, sometimes harmonious, sometimes tumultuous, complex relationships exist between esoteric thought in its specifically Christian interpretation and various fraternities initiation occurred for several centuries in Europe and the United States. From the early seventeenth century with the first Rosicrucian manifestos and the subsequent creation of social spaces exploiting the rich symbolic sealed, through a myriad of rituals and systems of the eighteenth century to the days grow within the Freemasonry, to the Orders Martinists formed from the nineteenth century to convey the legacy of the Unknown Philosopher, without neglecting the resurgence of these movements throughout the last century, all maintain close relationships with the esoteric Christian. While these companies are still sometimes regarded as hotbeds of heresy, unbelief or conspiracy, our conferences will aim to highlight the literary references (especially biblical), theological, liturgical and symbolic, although often overlooked, weave the true intellectual backdrop on which turns the esoteric Christian and draw the fraternities initiation referring to them.
Our stakeholders, in their respective areas of specialty, address issues or theoretical (concerning the method and the basic concepts of the study of Western esotericism) or historical (on various levels and Masonic rites or paramaçonniques) or symbolic. Under the heading of "esoteric Christian Presence in Freemasonry," GREMM will examine these themes as the following program:
